| How To Color Your Hybrid Puck |
|
 |
|
The Hybrid has proven to be one of the sweetest pucks you'll every have the pleasure of sliding across the bottom of your club pool.
Currently the Hybrid Puck is only available with white Delrin slider plates, and this has raised the question of "how easy is it to see the puck on a white tile bottom?".
Thanks to Renaud Waldura in San Francisco, we now have an solution to coloring the white slider plates. The image below shows what Ren was able to do with his Hybrid Puck and a little bit of Rit Dye from the craft store. His procedure for coloring the slider plates follows:
|

 |
INGREDIENTS
- 1 Hybrid puck with white Delrin plates
- 1 Philips head ("+" shape) screwdriver
- Rit Dye, a common fabric dye commonly found in supermarkets (Safeway, Wal-Mart, etc.) Many colors are available. Sold as a liquid or a powder, both work fine
- 1 large metal can, cleaned. The puck needs to fit inside of it
- Plastic gloves
- Tweezers or chopsticks
- Safe place to let things dry out (e.g. workbench)
Warning: Rit Dye is a good product. A little goes a long way, and it lasts. Don't splash it, don't let it touch anything, or it will be of that color for a long time (e.g. your fingers).
METHOD
- Using the Philips head screwdriver, unscrew both white plates from the puck. Carefully put away the screws as you'll need them later
- Fill the metal can with 2" tap water
- Add dye to the can, starting with drops. This stuff is intense, you don't need much. Get it a nice dark color
- Set metal can on stove, heat up to a gentle boil
- Gently drop the plates into the hot dye mix using your chopsticks/tweezers
- Stir gently till the plates become a nice, even color. It doesn't take long! The longer you "cook" the plates, the darker they get
- Retrieve plates from dye using chopsticks, set them out to dry for a day
- Empty leftover dye into utility sink (i.e. not your white kitchen sink)
- Dispose of can
- Once plates are dry, screw them back onto the puck
- Play!
